Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Formans!!

It’s been a busy year, mainly centered on watching our Miss Claire grow and change… What a difference a year makes! Claire is now 15 ½ months old and has all sorts of new skills:
  • Climbs up and down our whole staircase
  • Cruises and pulls up on everything (INCHES from walking)
  • Loves to say animal noises: dog, cat, elephant, cow, monkey, gorilla, owl, & chick so far with new ones added daily
  • Has a great vocabulary: Daddy, Mama, Dede, Nana, Bailey, that, bear, baby, up, out, yay, uh-oh, hi, bye-bye, whoa, row-row, ho-ho-ho
Uses sign language well: more, all done, thank you, I love you, hungry, fish, claps, blows kisses
  • Feeds herself very well (all table food now)
  • Loves music & will sign, “More, more, more” if she likes a song
  • Loves school & playing with other kids
We traveled a lot this year as a family, thanks to a Southwest companion pass, a girl under two, and Graham having quite a few work conferences in interesting places. We also took our first road trip as a family and spent a week on Gull Lake in Minnesota with Nana. We had a wonderful time…

Graham is still VP of Sales with Netchemia, and Mindee is still an Analyst with the Kauffman Foundation (part-time). We both very much enjoy what we do…

Mindee is also going to graduate school part time at the University of Kansas – she began a Marketing Communications program just after we found out we were pregnant, so attended one semester’s worth of classes and then took a year off. She’s about a third of the way through the program so has a few more years to go.

In sharing our joys of the year, we have a bit of sorrow to share as well. We lost both of Graham’s beloved grandmothers this year; two remarkable women who are both very missed. We’re grateful they got to meet Claire.

We wish you and yours all the best in 2009!

Much love,

Graham, Mindee, and Claire Forman

News from the land of Claire

Happy very belated Thanksgiving from Claire - we had a very lovely family-filled weekend punctuated by fun activities such as:

Stool pushing (video here)

Piano playing (video here)

And stair climbing...

That's right, our girl is now a big climber. She started with one step in Seattle, then graduated to our lower two step area in mid-November, and now she climbs our entire staircase with an adorable kneel-kneel-stand-stand move. She's delighted with her new ability to change floors of her own accord. She's pretty good with going DOWN, but doesn't do the whole staircase yet.

Claire also did the Jingle Bell run with us in mid-November - she slept through the whole thing but a photographer got a picture of us that I just had to share. Way too cute!

Claire had two well-baby checkups earlier this month - one for her hip dysplasia and one for her general 15-month checkup. Dr. Gupta said her hips look so good that he doesn't need to see her at 18-months - we go back when she's two, see him yearly for awhile, and then will cut down to every other year. Yay!

As for her stats, she's still at less than 3rd percentile for weight (17 pounds, 7 ounces), is at the 20th percentile for height (29 1/4 inches), and is at the 50th precentile for head circumference (18 1/4 inches). She's healthy and happy and growing well and that's all we can ask for!

Happy girl...

Well, she's happy, that is, when we don't take her to see Santa. Brace yourselves for the saddest picture EVER. We took her to a Breakfast with Santa at our church... It was the day after her shots, plus she skipped her morning nap and was hungry. BAD combo. I tried again to take her to a Breakfast with Santa at her daycare... We prepped her more for it (Santa - "Ho ho" says Claire), and she liked watching Santa from a distance, but didn't want to get any closer than three feet. Maybe next year. Hopefully she'll find it funny someday...

"Aaaaaaahhhh!!"

We leave Monday for Boise, where we'll spend Christmas with Nana, Mam, and the Kubenas. We get to stay for a whole week, which is very exciting!

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy New Year to all of you!

Love,

Mindee, Graham, and Claire
