Another big storm y nuestra casa

We had another one of our impressive thunderstorms yesterday – this one was right overhead and killed our power for two hours. We got two videos, the first of the rain:

(Note: Graham and Claire came in the other way so didn't need my umbrella, but it was cool seeing the storm close up.)

And the second of the little river that runs next to our condo:

Very impressive! Here's what the river normally looks like:

And here's during/after yesterday's rain:

Apparently the day after yesterday it rose even higher... The "before" picture was actually taken this morning (after the big storm yesterday), so the excess water drains pretty quickly.

We finished our lessons with LisaTec Friday and begin at Intercultura on Monday. We’ve really enjoyed our time at LisaTec with José-Luis and intend to return for more private instruction after we finish our group classes in a month or two.

Here are the promised pictures of our condo - allow me to give you the tour:

Welcome to the Villas de Cariari! The bottom window on the left is actually Claire's bedroom. The ramp up is a lovely thing when dealing with mass quantities of luggage.

Walking through our front door: Claire's room is on the ground floor, our room is upstairs, and the living room and kitchen are downstairs. First, let's head upstairs...

This is our bedroom - we were actually surprised with a new bed spread yesterday - ours used to match the ones in Claire's room. (We have housekeeping similar a hotel's every day but Sunday.)

The view of the back garden and golf course from the balcony off our bedroom.

Our little upstairs balcony.

Our bathroom - much larger than our 1936 one in Kansas City.

Heading back downstairs... You can see Claire's room on the right.

Claire's bedroom and her big-girl bed (she sleeps in the one by the window).

Claire's bathroom, complete with duckies.

Heading downstairs again, this is our kitchen...

...which opens into the living room.

Looking into the living room from the kitchen.

The dining area of our living room also serves our primary home office space (mainly because it's right next to the cable modem connection).

This is our little back patio off the living room, which looks out onto...

...this lovely garden and a lower view of the golf course.

As of yesterday we've been here four weeks - tomorrow makes it a month! We're very happy here thus far and looking forward to our first visitors in June! On that note, I set up a public calendar where you can see if someone is already staying with us or not in case you're thinking about a visit. (You can always get to it on the top right-hand corner of our blog.) We definitely welcome guests... Let us know if you have any questions, and come see us!

The Spanish summary (those of you who speak better Spanish, corrections are welcome):

  • Un otro gran tormenta ayer. El rió fue muy alto despues la lluvia.
  • Este es nuestra condo. Nosotros tenemos mucho luz y espacio.
  • Nosotros llegamos a Costa Rica hace 4 semanas. ¡Nos encanta!
